It’s been a fun week at The Doge Pound, and here is another roundup full of news and updates. We were at the Duke University Web3 Conference last week and looking forward to more IRL events in the coming weeks.

The winning post of the Jaritto meme competition is out, and we just acquired 450+ Doge Pound NFTs from one of our most loyal holders in an OTC (Over the Counter) deal. All this and more as we round up the week. Let’s go.

Big News — NFTs Buyback

We have recently acquired about 484 OG Doges from one of our biggest holders in an OTC deal. He has been highly supportive of us throughout but, unfortunately, got caught up in the FTX mess. He is in the process of recovering some of his assets with the help of lawyers, but in the meantime, it was mutually beneficial for us to buy back some of the NFTs.

There are no plans to sell these NFTs, and we would likely utilize them for the following:

Giveaways.
Brand deals to incentivize using our IP.
Investment deals if it helps us broker a good deal and our partners want a little skin in the game.
Selling some of the rares to diamond-handed and loyal holders.

Overall, it is healthy for the Doge Pound ecosystem as we have more skin in the game. Our vision is long-term and we strongly believe in what we’re building.

Doge Pound at Duke University

Last week, Kyle (aka John Lemon) was at Duke University for a web3 conference, and it was wonderful to meet many artists, Doge fans, and NFT enthusiasts.

We have more IRL events in the next few weeks and looking forward to meeting some of you there.

We already have 150+ signed up for the event. We are collaborating with some wonderful partners, including donating all the proceeds to a local dog shelter.

All ticket holders for this event will get a Doge Pound Austin (TX) themed NFT.

Best Pet Workplaces

Location: Playa Vista, CA
Date: May 18th
Details: All-day event focused on how pets help attract, engage, and retain a better workforce. Guests include the CEO of Petco, the SVP of Walmart, the President of Nationwide, the CMO of Titos, and many more.

Jarritos Meme Competition Winner Announced

We recently ran a meme competition to give away a mini fridge offered by Bones By Jarritos to one lucky winner.

Thanks to all who participated and voted to help us select the winner who receives a Jarritos branded mini fridge with their choice of doge artwork on the side.

Doge Pound Shelter Updates

The construction and operation of the Doge Pound Shelter in Tanzania have been our most rewarding accomplishments. We are constantly rescuing & bringing-in dogs who need a new and friendly home.

Beginning of the year, we ran a campaign to support our shelter employees and raised around $2000. We need your help to continue supporting the shelter and hopefully expand it in the future.

Final Thoughts

As we continue building our IP, we want to focus on expanding our audience to a diverse community of dog lovers. As we build our brand with our partners, we will further innovate and create unique products (AI tools, apps, toys, animations, etc.). We also want to continue our efforts in expanding our shelter, helping as many dogs as possible.
